With over 60% in revenue growth, a 29% reduction in carbon emissions, and $50 million in new work secured in 2024, 1M has been named the winner of the 2025 Excellence in Strategy award at the Auckland Business Excellence Awards (Central).
The judges praised 1M’s clear strategic direction, decisive action, and measurable impact across its operations. As MC Kate Rodger noted about all of the award winners:

Part of the OCS New Zealand group, 1M has evolved from an Auckland-based HVAC specialist into a national provider of mechanical, energy, and fire protection services – with a strong track record in critical sectors like healthcare, education, and commercial infrastructure.
1M’s success has been underpinned by a disciplined strategy focused on profitable contract selection, digital integration, and transparent customer value. The company reduced its subcontractor base, creating a self-delivery model, and achieved ISO certifications across Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety, and Information Security.
Digital tools like Power BI, Procore, and Simpro provide real-time visibility into financial, operational, and sustainability metrics. 1M’s customer portal, built into Simpro, gives customers the ability to track quotes, job status, and invoices online – a rare capability in the facilities services market.
Sustainability has also been front and centre, with a major fleet upgrade helping to reduce diesel emissions by 38.77%, and broader initiatives across waste, energy use, and staff engagement driving progress toward 1M’s goal of a 50% emissions reduction by 2026.
